The phrase "Dead men don't bite" means the same thing as "Dead men tale no tales." If they are dead they cannot do any harm. This poster also shows lines like on a treasure map going down the skull to a X. This X is shaped in a way to represent a T for Treasure. I did this to symbolize the treasure map Jim Hawkins and his friends followed in the Book "Treasure Island"

The black spot on the hand represents the black spot in the Book "Treasure Island." It is a death sentence to any pirate that gets it. I made the hand cover the face so that no one could recognize this man. But just like what happened to Billy Bones in the book, no one can escape the black spot. 

The skeleton in a coffin full of pirate riches, serves as a warning to those who are driven by greed. Death is the only reward to those who would do anything to get their hands on even a small piece of gold. Many times in the book "Treasure Island" Jim Hawkins get betrayed by people like Long John Sliver because of his greed for the treasure.
